Too often, urban youth have limited opportunities to experience natural environments. Brick walls, tall buildings, the rhythm of the daily downtown hustle and bustle have been the norm.  DYT recognizes the importance of diverse experiences that lend to personal growth and artistic development.   Many of our young people from the city have not had the chance to submerge themself in non-commercial natural environments.  To intentionally pause.  To turn off technology.  To forget the time of day or night. To jump in Sand dunes or sing  by a camp fire sitting on a beach. 

​Through sponsorships from Look Out Camp in Michigan, contributions from camp supporters, family members, friends and DYT supporters; Diversity Youth Theater has been able to open up a new world through Young Urban Artists Retreat.
